A Conversation About Diabetes

On Jan 16 & 17, 2018, Health Department of Grand Council Treaty #3 hosted an engagement process with Grand Council Treaty #3 Health Directors, Diabetes Workers and Health Service Providers on Diabetes at the Clarion Lakeside Inn, Kenora, ON. Throughout the two days participants were able to share with one another about existing Diabetes programs and services; what is working; where are the gaps; to identify solutions, and prioritize solutions as key recommendations. This information will be rolled up into a report which will be shared with government as key recommendations in improving health outcomes within Treaty #3 communities.

Lori Gray, from Settle Reflexology provided individualized reflexology sessions for meeting participants to introduce this type of health treatment.  Reflexology is an application of pressure to areas on the feet, hands and ears. These areas correspond to organs and systems of the body. Pressure applied to these areas affects the organs and benefits the person’s health.
