Grand Council Treaty #3 Holds Traditional Selection for Mamawichi-Gabowitaa-Ininiwag Men’s Council South and East Positions

Couchiching First Nation, ON – Grand Council Treaty #3 (GCT#3) held a Traditional Selection gathering on February 27, 2026, in Couchiching First Nation to fill the vacant South and East positions on the Mamawichi-Gabowitaa-Ininiwag Men’s Council.

Charles “Chazz” Perrault of Couchiching First Nation was selected to represent the South, and Bob Calder of Nigigoonsiminikaaning First Nation was selected to represent the East.

Both candidates addressed those in attendance, sharing their lived experience and the perspective they will bring to their roles. As members of the Mamawichi-Gabowitaa-Ininiwag Men’s Council, they will provide insight and guidance to Grand Council Treaty #3 leadership while supporting strong regional representation within the Treaty #3 governance structure.

They will serve in their roles until October 2027, when a new Traditional Selection will take place.

Grand Council Treaty #3 extends miigwech to everyone who participated in the gathering and contributed to this important process. We congratulate Charles “Chazz” Perrault and Bob Calder on their selection and look forward to working with them in service to Treaty #3 leadership and communities.
