Giiwedawigaming – “Let’s go home”

At least 1 in 4 citizens in Treaty #3 are living in an overcrowded situation. Housing size and quality have all been major areas of concern for Treaty #3 communities, and housing availability limits members wanting to move home. The Economic Unit is working with Treaty #3 communities and organizations on a Housing Strategy that addresses housing challenges and advances community-led solutions.

Giiwedawigaming – “Let’s go home” – will focus on collaboration, breaking down barriers, and building up solutions tailored specifically for Treaty #3 communities. Watch the Housing Strategy video to learn more about where this work is taking us!

How are we moving forward to support this?

  • Development of Treaty #3 Housing and Homelessness Strategy in collaboration with Tribal Councils
  • Working with Treaty #3 citizens to understand what a home means to them and find pathways forward to a create safe access to housing
  • Working with the federal government to provide funding for Treaty #3 communities to support new builds and maintenance needs, on and off reserve
