Summary

The Economic Unit is working towards transferring the CJ residential school property from the government of Canada back to the Anishinaabe Nation in Treaty #3. Through this process, we are guided by the Elder Advisory Council, which is made up of 8 elders from all four directions.

The purpose of the Cecilia Jeffrey (CJ) Residential School Property Advisory Council is to provide guidance to develop processes and protocols to potentially locate and honor the unmarked graves, then establish a plan moving forward with the CJ Property. Through Anishinaabe Inaakonigewin (law), ceremony, and protocols, Grand Council Treaty #3 hopes to honour all residential school survivors, their families and those who attended the residential school.
