Positions:       

Two (2) Board Of Directors Of The Treaty #3 Investment Corporation

 

South Position open to applicants from:

Onigaming, Musk-kosiminiziibing, Naongashiing, Naicatchewenin, Rainy River, Mitaanjigamiing, and Couchiching.

 

West Position open to applicants from:

Iskatewizaagegan #39, Shoal Lake #40, Sagkeeng, Buffalo Point, Animakee Wa Zhing, Northwest Angle #33, and Naotkamegwanning.

 

Overview:

This call for applications is open to all Anishinaabe Nation in Treaty #3 members representing the South and West communities in the Anishinaabe Nation in Treaty #3. Prior to applying, please review this document to gain an understanding of the requirements of this position.

 

Mission:

Treaty #3 Investment Group develops economic opportunities and investments to generate wealth for Treaty 3 shareholders.

 

Mandate:

To provide oversight of management and the operations of the Development Corporation, including through the supervision of the President/CEO.

 

Vision:

Within five (5) years, Treaty #3 Investment Group will create wealth and establish business presence through diversified investments. T3IG will have accountable governance, operations and management with integrity to provide community benefits.

 

Meeting Requirements:

  • Regular Board meetings once a month.
  • Quarterly informal business meetings with the Treaty #3 Economic Chiefs Committee.
  • Special meetings as required.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the management of the Treaty #3 Investment Group investments.
  • Report and be accountable to the Treaty #3 Economic Chiefs Committee and business plans and results of operations.
  • Approve the annual business plan and budgets for the Treaty #3 Investment Group and the investments managed by it.

 

Desired Qualifications, Experience And Skills For Board Of Directors:

  • Past volunteer or community involvement or similar experience.
  • Ability and willingness to raise/deal with potentially controversial issues in a manner that encourages/maintains dialogue.
  • Flexibility, responsiveness and willingness to consider others’ opinions.
  • Capable of wide perspective on issues.
  • Ability to listen, communicate and work as a team member.
  • Preferable experience in one or more of the following areas: public policy, communications, economics, finance, accounting or governance.

The Treaty #3 Economic Chiefs Committee will screen all applications and select individuals for an interview that meet the minimum qualifications set out above. This process may involve conducting reference and background checks. Applications will be required to provide their written authorization to the Treaty #3 Investment Group to conduct these checks.
