Supporting Naotkamegwanning First Nation Youth

On Oct 20th, 2021 Grand Council Treaty #3 supported Naotkamegwanning Youth with a donation of skateboards in promotion of physical activity and empowering resilience in mental health.

Grand Council Treaty# 3 Youth Coordinator Johnpaul George (L) and Naotkamegwanning
Youth Worker Roman Naymaypoke (R) on the event of the skateboard donation to the community.

These new skateboards were directly provided to youth as part of the life promotion activities and on-going support that is currently underway – these youths can now participate with their peers at the newly built skateboard park in the community.

Chief Howard Kabestra expresses his appreciation to Grand Council Treaty #3 for their donation and ongoing support in this initiative to help youth with their mental and physical health.

“COVID-19 has been particularly difficult on our youth and we have increasingly struggled with mental health so something was needed to help them build their confidence, let go of stress and anxiety and be active. We have already seen so many young people benefit from the new skateboard park and from the first workshop that was provided by Boardanyone, so it’s great to see that more youth will be able to participate with their new boards. It’s a great initiative and we look forward to seeing it grow” said Chief Kabestra.

Grand Council Treaty#3 and Boardanyone continue to work together to host more skateboard lessons and workshops for Naotkamegwanning First Nation.
