Ogichidaa Francis Kavanaugh, Grand Chief of Treaty #3 congratulates Gerald Lewis on his re-election as Chief of Iskatewizaagegan #39 Independent Nation
Ogichidaa Francis Kavanaugh, Grand Chief of Treaty #3 congratulates Chief Gerald Lewis of Iskatewizaagegan #39 Independent Nation on his re-election for a third term this past Thursday.
“Chief Lewis has been a strong advocate for his community,” said Ogichidaa Francis Kavanaugh. “I am certain that with his re-election we can continue to work together to advance the interests of the people of Iskatewizaagegan #39 and move the Anishinaabe Nation in Treaty 3 forward to a brighter future.”
Chief Gerald Lewis will continue to participate with the Environmental Chiefs and lobby on important issues such as Lake of the Woods watershed management and climate change mitigation.
Iskatewizaagegan #39 Independent Nation is located near Kenora on the north shore of Shoal Lake. The total registered population of Iskatewizaagegan #39 is 585 of which about 297 live on-reserve.
