Grand Council Treaty #3 Congratulates Chief Randy Fobister on Election

Ogichidaa Francis Kavanaugh and Grand Council Treaty #3 congratulates Randy Fobister, newly elected Chief of Asubpeeschoseewagong Netum Nation on his successful election on October 8.

“I would like to extend my congratulations to Randy Fobister on his recent election,” said Ogichidaa Francis Kavanaugh. “I am certain that as a former employee of Grand Council Treaty #3, Chief Fobister will put forward his best efforts as Chief of his community. Putting your name forward for community election is never an easy decision and the job of a Chief is a tough one but I am sure that Chief Fobister has what it takes to do well by his community.”

Chief Fobister will participate with the Social Chiefs Committee at Grand Council Treaty #3. This will include the critical work in health, education, and child welfare, all of which are extensive files and undergoing rapid transformation in the Treaty #3 territory.

Asubpeeschoseewagong Netum Nation, also known as Grassy Narrows First Nation, is located northeast of Kenora, Ontario on the English River.  The total registered population of Grassy Narrows is 1,600 of which about 1,000 live on-reserve.
