Anishinaabe Summit Announced

OBASHKAANDAGAANG FIRST NATION (WASHAGAMIS BAY): Grand Chief Jerry Daniels (Southern Chiefs’ Organization), Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler (Nishnawbe Aski Nation) and Ogichidaa Francis Kavanaugh (Grand Council Treaty #3) are pleased to announce an Anishinaabe Summit to be held in Winnipeg in August 2018.

All citizens of the Anishinaabe Nation, wherever they may be, are encouraged to make a trip to Winnipeg this August for this event which will be the first of its kind.

The modern borders between Ontario and Manitoba, or between Canada and the United States were unknown to the Indigenous peoples of Turtle Island.  This Anishinaabe Summit is seeking to bring the Anishinaabe Nation together across boundaries and promote friendship and solidarity.

The event is being planned for the week of August 20-24, 2018 and will feature keynote speakers and land-based learning, including excursions to historical sites such as the Bannock Point Petroforms and the Brokenhead Wetlands Interpretive Trail.

Full details and registration information will be announced at a later date.
