Grand Council Treaty #3 offers an exceptional opportunity for an individual with excellent organization and time management skills. The candidate will work with the Finance Manager and will be responsible for providing financial and administrative support services in order to ensure effective and efficient, financial and administrative transactions.
A minimum of a college diploma in Business Accounting certificate or equivalent; Minimum 3 years of direct experience; Knowledge of office administration, Adagio accounting software, bookkeeping procedures, accounts payable, accounts receivable and maintaining general ledgers, as well as knowledge of payroll functions and procedures, including government remittances, and preparation of monthly closing reports. Knowledge of account reconciliation and data verification. The Accounting Assistant is responsible to compute, classify, and record numerical data to keep financial records complete, perform any combination of routine calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records.
The Accounting Assistant must be able to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail; possess very effective organization, time management and written communication skills; strong computer skills, i.e. Word, Excel, Power Point and MS Outlook; knowledge of social and cultural aspects of First Nations. Ability to communicate in Ojibwe is considered an asset.
